Hello friends, I have returned home from a three week photo voyage with my photographer friend Autumn Sissons. It feels good to be in Tulsa and I can’t wait to work on new imagery from all the great locations we visited! Currently, I am experimenting on new photographs from Ontario, Canada and other various cities. This is a new image of the Detroit skyline as seen from Windsor, Ontario.

Town of The Blue Mountains on the Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada offered breathtaking vistas. The serene waterside was captured just after sunset with a fixed 28mm lens on my Nikon D300.

Junkyard Photos

While staying in Hancock, Mass we got permission to shoot in a junkyard. It was an amazing experience and I took the time to shoot during the evening one day and then again the next morning. This is for all you VW fans out there in the world!

Abandon trailer house

This image was captured at an abandon trailer house while visiting family in Sanborn, NY. As my friend Autumn and I approached the house, we discovered there was a large brown animal moving about inside. Fortunately, the animal was a doggy which just sat in the doorway and observed us as we moved about taking photographs. Eventually, the canine laid down for a nap and propped his doggy head up on the side of his bed. It was a beautiful site amongst the chaotic environment. What was to happen next is a photographers worst nightmare! Autumn unknowingly dropped her keys in the tall grass that you see in this photo! I had to run (with my camera bag over my shoulder) over a mile to get the second set of keys…. My legs were sore for the next three days of the trip!

Lightning storm in Buffalo, NY

Recently, I had the opportunity to pass through Buffalo, NY with my friend Autumn Sissons. During our short stay we photographed a lightning storm over the Peace Bridge. This image was captured on a Nikon D300 at ISO 2oo with a Tamron 17-5omm lens at an exposure of 30.o sec and aperture setting of f/11.

Studio Lighting Classes

Studio Lighting class begins tonight from 6-8pm at the TPG studio in downtown Tulsa. Please shoot us an email from the “contact us” tab if you or someone you know might be interested. This class runs for a duration of four weeks.

Every Friday I teach a Creative Photography class for the non-profit organization Youth Services of Tulsa. This is one of the only surviving film classes still taught in T-Town so I am honored to have the opportunity to work with a multitude of young students ranging in ages from 12-18yrs. Continuing to work with film is not something I really ever planned to do, but it’s definitely interesting to see how differently I shoot film in comparison to digital. Normally, during class there is not a lot of time for me to shoot since I am constantly helping students work with their cameras and solve problems. Recently, I started to sort through film images from my previous classes. Mostly, I am searching for images that are ambiguous and fit together into meaningful photo composites…Here is the first composite I put together depicting students in my class as they interact with one another. Hopefully, these images inspire people to continue on their path to success no matter what they may be determined to accomplish in this life.

Evolution Championship 2010

You can feel the excitement and energy in the air today as Tulsa Photo Group is shooting the Evolution Championship 2010 Cheer Competition at the Mabee Center. This is the largest Regional Event in Tulsa in the last two years with over 50 teams participating—-a Regional Competition with a real National Feel! We have five still photographers and three videographers working this all day event. Competitors, friends, and families are able to purchase DVDs, Team Photos and Action Shots to memorialize this exciting day.

A huge thanks to TPG members David Mabry, Jason Perry, and Jamie Alsabrook for shooting this event with Bill and Zane! Also special appreciation to the video crew Sam Rowland, Clark McCaskill, and Stephen Rhoads along with our event staff Lisa, Deann, Kris, and Matt!
